- Contact and feedback: if you email us, submit a correction, send a story tip, or fill out a contact form, we receive your name, email, and the contents of your message.
- Sponsored content submissions: if you apply to run sponsored content, we collect business contact details, billing information processed by Stripe, and the content you submit for publication.
- Newsletter: if you subscribe, we collect your email address and any preferences you set.
- Account information: if you have an editorial, admin, or contributor account, we collect your name, email, hashed password, and role.
Information collected automatically
- Usage data: pages viewed, referring URL, time on page, device type, browser, IP address, and approximate geographic region (derived from IP).
- Cookies and similar technologies: we use first-party cookies for site preferences and authentication, and third-party cookies through analytics providers (see Third-Party Services).
- Server logs: standard web server logs including request times and HTTP status codes, retained for security and debugging.
Information we do NOT collect
- We do not collect health information, diagnoses, prescription records, or other protected health information (PHI). PBCMMG is not a covered entity or business associate under HIPAA. Do not submit PHI through our site or email.
- We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. See “Children’s Privacy” below.

We do not sell personal information. We do not use personal information to train AI models, and we do not allow our service providers to do so.
Third-Party Services
We rely on the following service providers, each governed by their own privacy practices:
- Amazon Web Services (AWS): hosting, database (RDS), file storage (S3), email delivery (SES), AI infrastructure (Bedrock).
- Stripe: payment processing for sponsored content. We do not store full credit-card numbers; Stripe handles all card data under PCI-DSS.
- Anthropic (via AWS Bedrock): large language model used for AI-assisted research and drafting. Anthropic does not train on PBCMMG content. See our AI-Assisted Writing Disclosure.
- Analytics: we may use privacy-respecting analytics tools to measure site usage. We do not enable fingerprinting and we honor Do-Not-Track signals.
- Email forwarding: emails sent to
info@,editor@,corrections@, andmedia@addresses on pbcmmg.com are processed through AWS SES and routed to our editorial team.
Cookies
We use cookies for:
- Strictly necessary: authentication, CSRF protection, basic session state. These cannot be disabled without breaking core site functionality.
- Preferences: remembering display settings or dismissed banners.
- Analytics: aggregate usage measurement. You can opt out via your browser's Do-Not-Track setting or your browser's cookie controls.
Data Retention

- Sponsored-content records: 7 years (tax/audit basis)
- Server logs: 90 days
- Newsletter subscriptions: until you unsubscribe (then we retain a record of unsubscribe to honor your choice)
Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export the personal information we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Florida residents have rights under the Florida Digital Bill of Rights; California residents have rights under the CCPA/CPRA; New Jersey residents have rights under the NJ Data Privacy Act; EEA/UK residents have rights under GDPR/UK-GDPR.
To exercise any right, email info@pbcmmg.com. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law (typically 30–45 days). We will verify your identity before fulfilling requests involving substantive personal information.
Children’s Privacy
The Sites are intended for adult audiences (18+). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that a child under 13 has provided us personal information, we will delete it promptly.
Security
We implement administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information, including encryption in transit (TLS), encryption at rest (AWS-managed KMS), access controls, and regular security review. No system is perfectly secure. If we become aware of a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you and applicable regulators as required by law.
International Users
Our Sites are operated from the United States. If you access them from outside the U.S., your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the U.S. Where required, we use Standard Contractual Clauses or other appropriate safeguards.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. Material changes will be posted here with an updated “Effective” date. Continued use of the Sites after a change indicates acceptance.
